OUR FARMERS
Cattle production is mainly from grass with just a 4 month fattening period for the younger animals. During this time they are fed healthy by-products from Eswatini’s food industries such as hominy chop, wheaten bran, molasses, citrus pulp and brewer’s grains.
There are some commercial farmers but mostly the cattle are raised by small holders (in herds of about 10 to 20 animals) and grazed communally.
Embiveni works closely with these farmers and helps them improve their businesses through training, loans and technical assistance. Also we help arrange discounts with the major suppliers of farm inputs; using the Embiveni Reward card which is given to all farmers who sell cattle to Embiveni.
Note: include photos of herdsmen, feedlots and a farmers braai day.
